Spotify, the music streaming service with 180 million listeners, announced that they plan to launch Co.Lab -- an event series that plans to help up-and-coming artists learn more about the ins and outs of the music industry.

The event series is part of the broader Spotify for Artists rollout, which lets independent musicians upload their music directly to the platform in a very Soundcloud-esque fashion.

At its core, Co.Lab wants to help emerging artists understand how the modern music industry works outside of just making music. They will teach about different revenue streams, the business behind merchandising, and touring logistics.

Applications for the events are now open and will initially take place in Los Angeles and New York. To apply you must be a verified Spotify artist with at least 1,000 followers.
