El Chapo Gets Sentenced and Must Pay Up

Good luck actually getting him to pay up.

Notorious drug lord El Chapo was sentenced to life in prison last week. If you know anything about El Chapo, this probably comes as no surprise. What may come as a surprise is that as part of his sentencing, he will have to forfeit $12.6 billion.

For perspective, there are only 106 people on earth that are worth more than $12.6 billion. Now, we're not saying that the government won't receive this money or anything like that – but we are saying that there's a loooooong list of things that are liable to happen before that does. Godspeed.
