Avengers: Endgame Breaks Records

...and it wasn't even close.

Unless you forgot to pay your internet bill recently, you've probably spent the better half of this past week hearing about Avengers: Endgame. Between having to euro step spoilers like James Harden, and witness people argue over the logistics of time travel (because everyone's an expert in that, right?), the movie has sent the internet into a frenzy.

Even if superhero movies aren't your cup of tea, there's one thing you can't deny: they make a lot of damn money. Avengers: Endgame broke box office records this past weekend, bringing in $1.2 billion. For perspective, the previous record holder was Avengers: Infinity War, which brought in $641 million in its opening weekend.

Out of the 20 highest grossing opening weekend movies, Marvel has produced seven of them.

Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion in 2009; to say that that investment has paid off would be an understatement.
